Namobuddha Day Hiking is the most popular day hiking tour from Kathmandu, Nepal. The Namobuddha Day Hike offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan range, lush landscape, and an opportunity to explore rural Nepali villages and an old Buddhist monastery (Namobuddha Stupas) within a day's hike. Namo Buddha is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site as it is believed to be the place where Lord Buddha, in one of his previous lives, offered his own body to a hungry tigress and her cubs. There is a beautiful monastery at Namobuddha, and visitors can explore the site, make offerings, and soak in the tranquil surroundings. There are many hiking starting points for the Namobuddha Day Hiking, but most hikers start the hike from Dhulikhel.

Dhulikhel is a beautiful town located 30 kilometers east of Kathmandu. It is known for its Newari cultural heritage and picturesque views of the Himalayas including Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Gaurishankar, Dorje Lakpa, Jugal Himal, Rolwaling Himalayan range etc.

After about an hour's drive from Kathmandu, you reach Dhulikhel, it is always better to start earlier to see the best mountain views from Dhulikhel and even when hiking. It is also good place to witness the stunning sunrise over the mountains.

The trail from Dhulikhel to Namobuddha takes you through picturesque countryside, terraced fields, and small villages. The hike is moderately challenging, with some uphill sections, but it is generally manageable for most fitness levels. It takes about 4 hours to complete.

From Dhulikhel you will start hiking through the old marketplace into the city, after a while you will ascend 1000 steep stairs. It is in the forest. After climbing 1000 steep stairs you will reach the top where the Kali temple is located.

From here you have a nice view of mountains. After enjoying the hilly views and visiting the Kali Temple, you will follow a downhill, flat, and gradual ascend and a steep ascend in the final part. After some time meditating with the monks and walking around at Namobuddha, drive back to Kathmandu in a private vehicle.

Pick up from hotel in Kathmandu and drive by private vehicle to Dhulikhel. About 4 hours hike to Namobuddha from Dhulikhel glimpsing mountain panorama, hillside terraced farm and villages. Excursion around the Namobuddha monastery and view the Himalayan ranges from the summit and drive back by private vehicle to the hotel in Kathmandu.
