Hence the name - Lang is Tibetan for yak and tang (more correctly dhang) means to follow. Yaks still live in the valley, but they now share it with trekkers.

Getting there – Access to Helambu is particularly easy and quick. Sundarijal, which is one of the most convenient starting points, is an hour’s drive from Kathmandu. Other road 5 hour drives away at Malamchi pul. Langtang the choice is limited –drive to Dhunche in Rasuwa district. The road continues to Syabrubesi from where also Lantgang treks can start. Hindu pilgrimage site and popular tourist place Gosainkund can be reached from either of the two routes. However, the way via Rasuwa is earlier bus leave regularly from Balaju Bus Park.
