North Sikkim - Green Lake Trekking
Green Lake Trekking and Zemu Glacier at the base of Mt. Kanchanjunga. Meet the Lachenpas the inhabitants of Northern Sikkim and trek to East Base Camp of Mt Kanchanjunga at Green Lake from the eastern side.
Trek through villages, hills and river valleys along the foothills of the great Kanchanjunga Range. Pristine areas and villages visited by a very few westerners till today. Newly opened, little trekked, area close to the Tibetan border in North Sikkim. Spring is best for many varieties of rhododendron and high altitude plant life. Spring/summer treks are of interest to birdwatchers and flowring plants. Octover-November is best for clear weather and good mountain views.
ITINERARY
Day 01: Arrive at Bhadrapur Or Bagdogra Airport. Meet guide and drive to Gangtok the capital of Sikkim. Hotel.
Day 02: Gangtok town & Rumtek Monastery sightseeing. Hotel.
Day 03: Drive Gangtok to Lachen (2728m) by jeep. Lodge or tent.
Day 04: Start trekkking to Tallem (3468m). Tent.
Day 05: Trek from Tallem to Jakthang (3176m). Tent.
Day 06: The trek from Jakthang to Yabuk (3978m). Tent.
Day 07: Trek from Yabuk to Rest Camp (4570m). Tent.
Day 08: Rest day for exploration and acclimatization. Tent.
Day 09: Trek from Rest Camp to Green Lake (4935m). Tent.
Day 10: Day hike from Green Lake to Zemu Glacier (5500m). Tent.
Day 11: Return trek from Green Lake to Yabuk. Tent.
Day 12: Trek back from Yabuk to Jakthang. Tent.
Day 13: Trek Jakthang to Lachen. Green Lake Trek ends. Lodge or tent.
Day 14: Lachen to Gangtok drive by jeep. Hotel overnight.
Day 15: Drive to Bagdogra or Bhadrapur Airport or for departure flight.
